在美国有一位跨性别少年参加选美比赛，结果不但顺利夺下冠军，更成为史上首位晋级“美国小姐”的跨性别选手。

By being named Miss Greater Derry 2023, Brian Nguyen became the first transgenderperson to win a title under the Miss America organization.

The internet, however, seems to be divided over this result. Netizens have flooded social media with congratulatorymessages as well as severe criticism.

The Miss Greater Derryevent was launched in 1986. According to its official website, its scholarship"recognizes their achievements in scholastic, aptitude, talent, character, community service and poise." The event is held for those between the ages of 17 and 24.

Recently, Brian Nguyen took to Instagram to share the news of her becoming the "First transgender titleholder." Nguyen expressed:

At the time of writing this article, Nguyen has amassed 3,448 followers on Instagram. As per her Instagram bio, she has also accumulated a total of 43k followers on TikTok.

其实早在2019年的时候就有一个名叫安妮塔·格林(Anita Green)的跨性别者申请参加美国小姐选美比赛，但遭到了拒绝。

安妮塔一怒之下还对美国小姐提起诉讼，但最终以失败告终。官方强调美国小姐选美仅允许“天生的生物学女性”（natural-born females）参加比赛。

结果三年后，布赖恩·阮直接拿下“美国小姐”分区冠军......

无独有偶，近日还有一位巴西跨性别者获得了“年度女性”的称号。

As previously reported by Reduxx, on October 24, a trans-identified male in Brazil was named “Woman of the Year,” taking home the title during the Generation Glamour ceremony in São Paulo.
